New in town: Mrs. Hen, East Village — Ayam Geprek and sambal for an ultimate cheat day

What’s better than fried chicken and spicy food? Spicy fried chicken. If you and I share that same sentiment, this article is dedicated to you. Mrs. Hen made a promise to give us fresh ayam geprek that’s spicy and juicy, and if the mere thought of it isn’t enough to make your stomach rumble a little, I don’t know what will.

Mrs. Hen currently has an open outlet located at East Village, with another store joining the ranks at Telok Ayer soon.

Their menu features a staple Ayam Geprek Set (S$9.90+), which comes with a drink to help quench your thirst after you polish off your meal. All customers will be absolutely spoilt for choice with a myriad of options—spice lovers will not want to miss their Ayam Geprek Sambal Signature (S$9.90) which comes with their signature chilli.

You can also opt for their Ayam Geprek Sambal Hijau (S$9.90), served with green chilli, or Ayam Geprek Sambal Matah (S$9.90) which will blow you away with vibrant flavours of Balinese lemongrass chilli. If you’re not one for spicy food, Mrs. Hen also offers Ayam Geprek Salted Egg (S$10.90) which is their signature boneless fried chicken doused with salted egg sauce.

Maybe you’d like to go all out and feast for dinner, in which case, Mrs. Hen will definitely have you covered with their Ayam Geprek Sambal Platter (S$10.90), which features their chicken served alongside not one, not two, but three different types of sambal chilli.

If you can’t get enough of spicy food, Mrs. Hen will let you take-away their sambal in a tub. Yes, add on to your order with their Sambal To Go, which will set you back only S$4. There’s Sambal Signature, Sambal Hijau, Sambal Kecap, and Sambal Matah to satisfy any cravings, and why not just get one of everything while you’re at it? You deserve an ultimate cheat day after all.
