Customers who bought food from Ho Kee Pau’s outlet at NEX today (June 30) are advised to not consume them said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
This advisory was issued after the agency discovered “widespread pest infestations” at HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd’s Bedok North premises during an inspection.
HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd is a food manufacturer that supplies food products to Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlets.
Widespread pest infestations on premises
SFA said that the premises were poorly maintained. Cockroaches and rodent droppings were observed in the food preparation and assembly areas.
Food products, such as dim sum, traditional pau and pastries, that were sent to the NEX outlet on June 30 have been recalled as a precautionary measure.
SFA has suspended the food business operations of HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd until further notice.
In addition, HKP Food Technology Pte Ltd was directed to take the necessary measures to improve the cleanliness of its premises and rectify the lapses.
SFA said those customers who have eaten the implicated products and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice.
In its media release, SFA reminded food operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times.
The agency said it will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act.
Members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in establishments are advised to avoid such outlets and report such incidents to SFA.
